I am going to make a new pc soon and i want to liquid cool it i have been on many sites trying to find the parts that you need to do this including the swiftech website and i was just wondering why is swiftech out of stock of so many of their products? they are the main one for custom liquid cooling loops that I know any suggestions for online stores that deliver to the us?

Comments are appreciated and thank you for your time.

Budget Water Cooling Build

Hello,

I am new to this forum. After watching Linustechtips's Ultimate Water cooling guide, I got inspired to make my own water cooling build. I need to get the nod of approval from someone who has water cooled before, just to make sure my build is okay.

Budget: My budget was $1250 with a maximum of $1260. I wanted to get a no compromises fully water cooled build. Certain corners had to be cut but I think my plans are pretty good for $1250. Also the theme is White and Black.  The machine is also a Hackintosh which is dual booting windows on the hdd and mac on the ssd. (the r9 290 is sort of supported in the new Yosemite update if you use Clover.)

Parts:

I am using a 4690k, a  cryovenom r9 290 with waterblock, a hdd, a ssd, a evga 750w bronze psu, Avixer Core led 8 gb memory kit, a Msi z97s sli krait edition, all inside a fractal design arc midi r2.

Watercooling parts:

The swiftech h240x seemed like the best choice. It is $120-ish on NCIX and it comes with the cpu block, rad, pump, and res. I also added another 280mm  XSPC rad, compression fittings (8) all 3/8 inch id 5/8 inch od, and 3/8 id inch tubing from xspc. I added P.t Nuke and a drain port for easy draining. Lastly, I added a fan splitter to hook up all the fans to the fan controller built in to the arc midi r2. I also added two more fractal design fans because two 140mm fans already came with the case and they were cheap with decent static pressure.

I am going to build this PC soon, but first I wanted to make sure that all the parts were compatible and that I didn't make any mistakes anywhere.

Thank you so much in advanced if you respond to this post.

Thanks,

reconninja33

Watercooling two 980's and 4790k questions.

Hi guys

I'm helping my friend out on a Streaming/Content creation pc.

He wanted to see how much it would cost him to water cool the whole thing.

We have two 980's and a i7 4790k we would like to cool. We're doing this is a NZXT H440.

I was thinking a Swiftech H220-X on the top and a Swiftech H140-X on the back.

So we're gonna connect the H220-X to the cpu block then to the H140-X on the back then to the two 980s then back to the H220-X.

Are the pumps gonna be enough to run all of this?

What are some good GPU waterblocks?

Thx for the help, Matt

corsair 760t radsize and thickness suggestions?

I was wondering if 240mm top mounted radiator and a 240mm front mounted radiator would give me enough sufficient cooling and space for a nice overclock on i7 5820k cpu and 980gtx hof gpu. And later on another 980 will be added to the loop..

Should I go with a thick monsta rad 80mm in the front and maybe a 45mm or 60mm in the top??

I wanted to keep the drive cages in the top of the 760t for a bluray drive and fan controller.. If it were going with a 360mm top rad I think I half to remove the top drive bays altogether..

What would you suggest I go with thicker rads or the longer 360mm?Do I have enough room in my case or would it run into problems?

I am almost certain I'm going with Alphacool rads but was wondering if I should look at any other rads on the market??

Some help would be much appreciated, I wanted to order the rads soon!

i recently bought an enermax liqtech 120s all in one cooler with only a 120mm radiator

now i was watching linus's vids and say heatsink cpu aftermarket cooler are slightly ok than using watercool and if so whats a good heatsink for cpu

sorry if i accidentally used the wrong thread for this quetion, just want some opinion

colored tubes vs colored liquid

EK-Ekoolant CLEAR + PrimoChill PrimoFlex Onyx Black

or

Mayhems Pastel Pure Black + PrimoChill PrimoFlex Crystal Clear

Which would give me best result, both in terms of look and in terms of temprature.

I'm using only EK parts, so I will stick with there cooling liquid or Mayhems (as that is recommended).

thin 480mm vs thick 360mm rad question

I have 2 "EK-CoolStream RAD XTX 480 Radiator" ordered, but I want 3 in my setup.

Sadly the stores only had 2 available (guess shortage, also long waiting), so now I need another option.

So I have the choice between "EK-CoolStream PE 480 Radiator" and "EK-CoolStream RAD XTX 360 Radiator".

The PE 480 is 38mm thick, while the XTX 360 is 64mm thick.

So which would be the best option as my 3rd rad?

What kind of 140mm fans for radiator?

$

I'm going to water cool my cpu soon and I was wondering, what kind of fans I should use with the Rads I bought? I'm going liquid cool my gpu too but I haven't bough the fans yet. I only have room in my case for a single 140mm after the 280mm rad is in, so I decided to go with a 80mm think 140mm alphacool rad. What kind of fans would be appropriate for the 80mm? I know almost nothing about fans except I'll need some pressure optimized ones.

Thanks for any help!

Here is a pic of how I plan to set them up, and by the way the reason the tubes go up into the optical drives is because the kit I bought has a res/pump combo that mounts in the 5 1/4 bay.

Water cooling in 'main' pc?

Hello everyone.

I just wanted to find out: how many of those, who goes water cooling, are using water cooled build (including AIO) as a 'main' pc (for both work, internet, gaming etc).

As for me, I have separate workstation and water cooled gaming pc.

Thinking about watercooling my rig?

Hi guys! This is my first time posting in the WC section.  Sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread.

So I have been thinking about watercooling my personal rig for a few reasons.

1. I'm not really happy with the temps in my build now since I added a second 780 in sli.  During gaming with my fans set to a higher performance speed My top gpu reaches upwards of 82* in BF4.  I've actually had to dial back my overclocks quite a bit to get to this level.  I have both cards running at about 1000mhz now but they boost higher than that most of the time.  My cpu is doing fine however since it has the h110 on it with noctua PPC fans.

2. The noise is a lot higher than I expected since I have to turn my fans up to get my gpu temps to a good level.  I'd really love to have a much lower overall sound coming from my machine while gaming.

3. I really would like to push my gpu overclocks more than I have in the past and I think water would be the right way to go. It's not that im lacking in performance my setup is really overkill for gaming at 2560x1080 that I play at.  I don't plan on going to 4k or anything in the near future though 1440p might be a possibility eventually.

So some of my concerns were...

1. I've never done any custom WC planning or builds before.  I've seen a lot of nice builds in the air 540(my current case) do it seems like a decent case to do my first WC build in.  What does everyone think?

2.  I don't really know how to plan out what parts I need for my specific loop.  I know id need rads, blocks, res, pump, tubing , etc but I don't know the best way to set up a loop.

3. Do you guys think it's worth watercooling 2 780's? I know finding blocks for my asus cards is going to be rough but do you think I should just save up and get a reference design of whatever the next high end gpu comes out?

I'm really looking just for some suggestions just to see what everyone thinks. Thanks! I really appreciate it!

360mm AIO Recommendations

So Ive been looking for a 360mm AIO unit for my gaming build, but cant find one that I like except one and its the Fractal Design S36 but because of the bullshit patent from Asetek its not available in the US....sign. If I do decide to watercool my GPU as well then I would do a full custom loop, but since I'm only planning to do my CPU (i5 460k) only Im just looking for an AIO.

Cleaning a loop

Hey guys!

I'm planning to extend my loop by 2 GPUs and want to use a new color. So my question is: What is the best way to clean out everything? Will tap water be okay or do I need to use distilled water?

Anything else to consider?

Custom watercooling loop help.

Hey guys

I'm helping my friend make a custom watercooled sli 980 build.

We're using a Corsair 760t and a Asus Maximus VII formula with dual GTX 980's.

We're gonna have a 360mm rad on top and a 280mm rad on the front, with a Bitspower Z-Multi 250 Reservoir and a EK D5 Vario Pump.

So in all we're gonna need to cool the CPU waterblock, 2 GPU waterblocks,

We're not sure how to do the loop. We need some help. This is where all the components ruffly are.

http://gyazo.com/8555149b87acc536c3d9f4c730aa131f Sorry for the labeling, art is a bit constricted.

Thx for the help, it's greatly appreciated, Matt.

Trick to removing 3/8id from fittings?

Is there a trick for removing the tubes from the fittings without significant force?

First watercooling setup

$

Case: Thermaltake Core X9

Loop order:

Reservoir - Pump - Bottom Left Rad - Top Left Rad - Left GPU - Right GPU - CPU - Top Right Rad - Reservoir (back to start)

That should be the order that leaves me with the cleanest setup, I think.

Bleeding will be done from the 2nd outlet on the pump.

Filling will be done with a T-Block mounted under the Top Right Rad, so I fill in the tube leading to the Reservoir.

I got a EK-D5 pump - 140mm reservoir combo:
http://www.ekwb.com/shop/reservoirs-and-acc/res-pump-combo/ek-d5/ek-xres-140-d5-vario-incl-pump.html

So is there any problems with this setup?

Rest of the components:

EK-CoolStream RAD XTX 480 (4x120mm) (64mm) (top mounted)

EK-CoolStream RAD XTX 480 (4x120mm) (64mm) (top mounted)

EK-CoolStream PE 480 Radiator (4x120mm (38mm) (bottom mounted)

EK Water Blocks EK-FC970 GTX TF5 - Acetal+Nickel

EK Water Blocks EK-FC970 GTX TF5 - Acetal+Nickel

EK-Supremacy EVO AC+NI CPU Block

PrimoChill PrimoFlex Onyx Black 12,7 mm (1/2") / 19,1 mm (3/4")

EK-Ekoolant CLEAR (Premade mix) (3 liters ordered + 5 Mayhems liter Ultra Pure H20 for cleaning and testing)

Lamptron FC5 V3 Fan Controller (6x 30w)

Ultra Kaze 120x120x38mm (3000rpm) (Push in top)

Slip Stream 120x120x12mm Slim Case Fan (2000rpm) (Push-Pull in bottom)

I got the fans for another setup, will change them later if needed.

So the PC in the link is about $5100 converted. So would watercooling use up all the rest?

First time watercooling

Hey guys,

I decided it was time to upgrade my pc and I am interested in water cooling. I would just like some advice and your opinion on my choice.

Build as of now :

case: Phanteks enthoo pro (not bought yet)

Mb: Gigabyet z97x-Gaming 3

cpu: i7 4770k 3.5 GHz

Gpu: Gtx 780 ti

I'm planing on overclocking

For the water cooling I was looking at XSPC kits, with a EX420 radiator and a 750 bay res/pump combo.

Do you know if that case can support the 750 reservoir?

I'am also considering a cylindrical res/pump instead of the bay reservoir.

The other thing I'd like to know is the best combination for pump and reservoir for the noise level since I'm aiming for as low as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Here's a quick setup for my loop.

Can i use this backplate without a waterblock ?
